The pocket watch, a dandy’s relic from days long gone, made a surprise showing at SIHH, Geneva’s annual luxury watch fair. Vacheron Constantin, a company that maintains a steady stable of historic pieces in their collection, introduced the elegant Patrimony Contemporaine Pocket Watch in rose gold with a leather strap and pouch. The manually wound timekeeper has an optional chain available for those who prefer the glint of gold.
Panerai‘s first ever pocket watch is a bit more stealth, crafted in matte black ceramic and showing off all its inner workings, including a tourbillon, with a skeleton case. Twelve rods suspending the movement in the center of the case also serve as hour indicators, coated in Super Luminova to give an after-dark glow.
Parmigiani, which got into the football game by teaming up with the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) in 2011, showed its new Transforma CBF, a timepiece that, true to its name, morphs from a pocket watch, to a wrist watch, and into a desk clock by changing from a fob to a strap or simply resting in its custom case. The piece features two watch “heads,” a chronograph and an additional annual calendar with a blue, green and yellow color scheme and the stars to match the organization’s emblem.
